STATE WATER COUNCIL HOSTS TOWN HALL MEETING IN SAVANNAH ON JUNE 2
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Armstrong Atlantic State University
11935 Abercorn Street
Savannah, Georgia 31401
The Water Council has scheduled a third series of town hall meetings around the state to discuss the statewide water
planning effort and to give citizens an opportunity to ask questions and offer comments on this important project.
These meetings will focus on integrated policies for water quantity and water quality as well as introduce sub-state planning guidance.
The Comprehensive Statewide Water Management Plan is being developed to help Georgians understand the current demands on water
throughout the state and to better manage our water resources in the future.
Center for a Sustainable Coast has been very involved in advising EPD on various aspects of this plan -- including
- minimizing water withdrawal and maximizing return to natural supply sources
- improving and protecting water quality, and
- maintaining sufficient flow for healthy fish and aquatic systems.
- ensuring accountable and fair procedures for administering permits for water supply and wastewater discharge.
- protecting and managing water within the boundaries of natural systems -- river basins/watersheds and aquifer-using areas.
We urge you to attend the meeting in Savannah and make comments. If you would like our advice in preparing your remarks, please call or email us.
And if you cannot attend the Savannah meeting, please try
to attend one of the other meetings or submit your comments directly to EPD -- for more
information, see the website http://www.gadnr.org/gswp/Documents/calendar.html
